St. Joe Montessori plans 7th annual ‘Boots and Bling’ education celebration
Friday, Feb. 27, 2015 — Hundreds of education advocates and generous hearts will come together on Saturday, March 7 to celebrate more than 40 years of child education at St. Jospeh Montessori Children’s Center.
The 7th annual Celebration for Education “Boots and Bling” gala and auction is 5-7 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at the Blue Grass Entertainment and Exposition Center, 426 Sutherland Rd. in Bardstown.
This year’s goal is to raise $25,000. The funds raised will support the Montessori center’s child-directed classroom, continuing education for faculty, and financial aid.
Since opening in 1973, the center has educated more than 2,000 young minds and has continually helped students prepare their educational careers and to be engaged citizens.
Tickets are $60 per person or $450 per 8-person table (if ordered by Feb. 28); Tickets ordered after March 1 are $70 per person.
DJ Matt Krupp will be in Blue Grass East with the dance floor, live and silent auction, raffle, photo booth, dancing, and games. Local musicians will be entertaining in Blue Grass Central with the Blackjack and Texas Hold ‘Em tables. The event will be emceed by the editor of the local newspaper.
This year’s gala will celebrate the work of two special honorees: Julia Springsteen of Elizabethtown, the 2015 Montessori Volunteer of the Year, and Amy Mattingly of Bardstown, who is a teacher at Bloomfield Elementary School and the 2015 Montessori Alumni of the Year.
St. Joseph Montessori Children’s Center is an early childhood school that addresses the diverse needs of the young child within a Christian atmosphere. Based on the philosophy and principles of Maria Montessori, the center develops the whole person by leading the child to a respect for self, others, and the environment.
