Tax incentives OK’d for new $5.2 million automotive plant in Bardstown

Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, 9 p.m. — Lt. Gov. Crit Luallen will visit Bardstown at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015, for the official announcement that Itsuwa KY, LLC, a new Japanese automotive manufacturer, will locate a plant in Bardstown that will create 43 jobs. The announcement will take place at My Old Kentucky Home State Park.
According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, on Thursday, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority approved Kentucky Business Investment Program tax incentives of $800,000, and incentives of $50,000 under the Kentucky Economic Incentive Act.
Itsuwa plans a $5.2 million investment to build a coating and painting operation facility in Bardstown that will supply the automotive industry.
Kim Huston, president of NCEDA, met with the Bardstown City Council in closed session Tuesday evening for a discussion of the negotiations regarding the new manufacturing facility locating here.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority board also approved tax incentives Thursday for industrial and manufacturing-related projects in Lexington, Bowling Green, Hardinsburg, Burnaugh, Russellville, Crittenden and Louisville.
