ADA DOWNS

Ada Downs, 78, of Bardstown, died Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born April 20, 1936, in Washington County. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Norman “Poss” Downs; two daughters, Libby Hutchins and Joy Greenwell; one grandson, Jeremy McCubbins; her parents, Albert and Mary Yates; three sisters, Hattie Yates, Margaret Inmon and Catherine Mayfield; three brothers, Philetus Yates, Lee Yates and Frank Yates; and two half-brothers, Ronnie Yates and Dickie Yates.

He is survived by three daughters, Mary Helen Hodge (Terry) of Bardstown, Lois Price (Joey) of Woodlawn, and Elaine Byrd (Mike) of Mount Washington; two sons, Danny Downs (Suzie) and Jerry Downs (Gail), both of Bardstown; two half-sisters, Frances Powell and Katie Ann Hagan, both of Springfield; two half-brothers, Clarence Yates and Charley Yates, both of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at the Barlow Funeral Home with burial in the Holy Trinity Cemetery. The Rev. Kevin McGrath will officiate.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015, and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at the funeral home with a prayer service 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may go to the donor’s favorite charity.

The Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
