Obituary: Wesley Owen Harmon, 96, Lebanon
Wesley Owen Harmon, 96, of Lebanon, died Friday, March 6, 2015, at the University Hospital in Louisville. He was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Marion County. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1942 to 1945. He received the EAME Theater Ribbon with eight bronze stars, an American Defense Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Ribbon. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Veteran of Foreign War, Disabled Veterans, American Legion Lodge #5, and a member of Moose Lodge in Bardstown and Louisville. He and his late wife, Cecila Wooley Harmon, owned and operated Harmon’s men’s clothing store, and owned and operated the Holly Hill Motel in Lebanon for more than 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecila Wooley Harmon; his parents, Earl and Pearl Spalding Harmon; and two sisters, Elizabeth Kirkland and Marie Devin.
Survivors include one son, David Owen Harmon; one granddaughter, Amy Jo Harmon; one great-grandson, Jacob Tyler Harmon; and several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2015, at St. Augustine Catholic Church celebrated by the Rev. George Illikkal. Burial is in the Lebanon National Cemetery with military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015, at the Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday.
