Obituary: James William ‘Billy’ Mattingly, 68, Holy Cross
James William “Billy” Mattingly, 68, of Holy Cross, died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. He was born March 17, 1946, in Raywick. The was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Lee and Mary Alice Miles; three sisters, Effie Lee Mattingly, Lucille Thompson and Viola Mattingly; and one brother, James Delmar Mattingly.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Leona Riggs Mattingly; one daughter, Rena Bartley (Jerry) of Holy Cross; three sons, Bobby Mattingly and Bill Mattingly (Stacy) both of Holy Cross and Jody Mattingly (Margaret) of Springfield; one brother, Francis “Toodle” Mattingly (Joan) of St. Francis; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is noon Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3560 North St. Francis Road, Loretto, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Emil Kandor and the Rev. James W. Graf will concelebrate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, March 16 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Memorial donations may go toward burial expenses.
Pallbearers are Joe Joe Mattingly, Patrick Bartley, Todd Willett, Frank Donahue, Gene Clark and Austin Mattingly.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
