Obituary: William Wallace Corbett Jr., 83, Holy Cross
William Wallace Corbett, Jr., 83, of Holy Cross, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015, at his residence. He was born July 8, 1931, in Holy Cross. He retired from General Electric after 35 years of service. He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Wray “Peggy” Lyvers Corbett; his parents, William Wallace Corbett Sr. and the former Anna Florence Downs; five sisters, Elvadine Newton, Georgia Green, Bernadette Nalley, Mary Alice McBelli and Appalonia Wimsatt; and four brothers, Clyde, Henry, Herbert and Carmen Corbett.
Survivors include three daughters, Wahseka Elliott (Bobby) of Riverview, Fla., Nona Bukszar (Bruce) and Nancy Harper (Mark), both of Louisville; three sons, Mike Corbett (Doretha) of Birmingham, Ala., Wallace Corbett (Diane) of Lexington and Doug Corbett (Jane) of Holy Cross; one sister, Bertie Ann Schoen of Duneden, Fla.; one brother, Newman Corbett (Ann) of Louisville; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2015, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3560 N. Saint Francis Road, Loretto with the Rev. Bill Bowling officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may go to the Holy Cross Cemetery Fund, 7945 Loretto Road, Loretto, KY 40037.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Will Corbett, Michael Corbett, Zac Corbett, Mark Corbett, Brandon Muccigrosso, Nicholas Muccigrosso and Spencer Harper.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
