Obituary: Joseph Marion ‘Jody’ Mattingly, 70, Nazareth
Joseph Marion “Jody” Mattingly, 70, of Nazareth, died Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at his home. He was born Nov. 13, 1944, in St. Francis. He was a former employee of Ivy Hill Packaging in Louisville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Whiskey City Cruisers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Herbert “Herb” and Frances Susie Ruley Mattingly; and one sister, Norma Lee McQuillen.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Elaine Lewis Mattingly; six sisters Louise Willard and Libby Mattingly (Hatsy), both of Loretto, Rose Mary Stengel (Mike) and Wanda Roberts (Wayne), both of Bardstown, and Rita Hinton and Sue Downs (Ray), both of Louisville; and three brothers, Herbert J. “Jiggs” Mattingly and Randy Mattingly (Diane), both of Loretto and Phil Mattingly of Nazareth.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, St. Francis with the Rev. Bill Bowling officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is noon – 8 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Mattingly, Frankie Mattingly, Joe Masterson, Randy Mattingly Jr., Arron Hahn and Jeffrey Anderson.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bailey Whitfield and Jacob Hogan.
The Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
