Obituary: Joseph W. ‘Wardie’ Ballard, 72, Bardstown

Joseph W. “Wardie” Ballard, 72, of Bardstown, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Baptist Health. He was born March 10, 1944 in Nelson County. He was an employee of General Electric.

He wais preceded in death by his parents, Link and Annie Ballard; and two sisters, Shirley Head and Blanche Ballard.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Mudd Ballard of Bardstown; two daughters, Cheryl Osbourne (Joe) and Ange Ballard Hicks (Andy) both of Cox’s Creek; two sisters, Georgia Cecil of Bardstown and Joyce Patterson of Rineyville; two brothers, Thomas Ballard of Tenn. and Eddie Ballard of Fla.; one grandchild, Lauren Osbourne; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, at St. Gregory Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Paul Eve officiating.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 27, and 8-9:15 a.m. Saturday, March 28 at Barlow Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Friday.

Memorial contributions may go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
