WALTER ‘SONNY’ THOMAS JR.

Walter “Sonny” Thomas Jr., 70, of Bloomfield, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at his home. He was born Nov. 26, 1944, in Chaplin. He was a teacher and owner of Thomas Outdoor Supply. He was a gunsmith, a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, a member of Masonic Lodge in Bloomfield, a member of the Lions Club and a member of the local F.O.P. He was a Boy Scout, where he received Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow. He was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church, a life member of National Rifle Association and an avid outdoorsman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter “Bear” Thomas Sr., and Mabel Seay Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Thomas of Bloomfield; one daughter, Anne (Uwe) Morley of Chaplin; two sons, Gene (Karen) Thomas and Andrew Thomas, both of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Zachary, Collin, Matthew, Jacob, Shelby, and Bradon; and a loving and caring friend of the family, Judy Waters.

The funeral is noon Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield. His cousin, Eddie Thomas will officiate.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, and 11 a.m.-\ noon Saturday March at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to American Cancer Society.

The Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
