Obituary: Shirley Marie Miles, 79, St. Francis

Shirley Marie Miles, 79, of St. Francis, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Springfield Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born March 16, 1936, in New Hope. She was a retired dairy farmer and member funeral_flowerof St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Miles; her parents; William Rodman and Mary Bertha Donahue Clayton; one son, Michael G. Miles.

Survivors include one daughter, Jane Higdon (Jimmy) of Lebanon; two sisters, Mary Anne Ball (Jimmy) of Culvertown and Libby Sims Jr. (Nick) of Bardstown; three brothers, Kenneth Clayton (Rita) of Holy Cross, Bummie Clayton (Bobbi) of Bardstown and Raymond Clayton of Shepherdsville; five grandchildren, Jim Higdon of Louisville, Brittany Nagle (David) of Prospect, Deanna Cotton (Dee) of Lancaster, Eva Miles of Loretto and Katie Miles of Lebanon; and six great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Saint Francis, with burial in the St. Charles Cemetery. The Rev. Emil Kandor will officiate.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
