Letter: Carter Lasure was ‘one of Bethlehem High School’s finest’

To the editor,

It was sad news indeed to hear of Carter Lasure, one of Bethlehem High School’s finest, demise. He letter-to-the-editorexemplified the very best in an English teacher.

Mr. Lasure was a tough task master especially with his red pen on student writing assignments resulting in students editing and rewriting their assignments. I know first had that my son and daughter were very fortunate to have been students in Mr Lasure’s Senior English class.

There were lots of gripes and and stress entailed with the senior research papers. My daughter was a student in Mr Lasure’s A.P. Senior English – 2 research papers were required.

I will never forget on of her topics, “Metaphysical Poetry.” She spent hours on research and rewrites but in the end the work paid off.She sailed thru all her college writing assignments/papers.

My son and daughter were well prepared for writing their college papers. No freshman remedial English class for these two students, products of Mr. Lasure’s tutelage.

I wished that I had personally thanked him for his dedication and informed him that the high expectations demanded from his students have served my children and others well not only with their college studies but in the lessons of life.

Better late than never — thank you Mr. Lasure for all that you gave to my children and the many other Bethlehem H.S, students
