Obituary: Mary Benita Newton Reid, 86, Nazareth
Mary Benita Newton Reid, 86, of Nazareth, died Sunday, March 29, 2015. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bardstown. She was retired from Beams Distillery with 25 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John A. and Carrie Etta Cambron Newton; her husband, William Stanley Reid; four infant children, William Daniel Reid, David Allen Reid, Mary Patricia Reid and Doris Linda Reid; her siblings; Laurita Hamilton, Mildred Hawkins, Kathleen Newton, Johnny Newton, Doyle Newton, Carl Newton, Kenneth Newton, Edgar Newton, Augustine Newton and Overton Newton.
She is survived by five daughters; Sheila (Tommy) Hurst and Julia (Joe) Osborne, both of Bardstown, Norma Jean (Bobby) Simmons of Charleston, Mo., Doris (Richard) Galvin and Joe Ann Hamilton, both of Louisville; two sons, Bryan (Jeri) Reid of Pewee Valley and Danny (Theresa) Reid of Bardstown; three sisters, Margaret Scott of Louisville, Rose Patterson of St. Matthews and Doris Spalding of Lebanon; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bardstown with the Rev. Jeff Hopper officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Her memorial service is 8-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.
