Letter: Supports Daniel Grossberg for treasurer in Democratic Primary

To the editor,

While the media may be solely focused on the Republican Gubernatorial race this campaign season, voters should be very aware that there is another important, competitive primary race in 2015. The Democratic Primary for State Treasurer is also a thoroughly competitive race featuring five legitimate candidates and should be plenty of motivation for Democrats to get to the polls on May 19.

Daniel Grossberg is my pick for Kentucky State Treasurer and he should be yours as well. Daniel is a Realtor who lives in Jefferson County with his wife Erica, who a middle school Spanish teacher.

Grossberg is by far the youngest candidate in this race, which is one of his most redeeming qualities: He brings a set of new ideas and a fresh perspective for the Office of State Treasurer.

letter-to-the-editorDaniel and I serve together on the Kentucky Democratic State Central Executive Committee and he is President of the Louisville Young Democrats. He is an intelligent and hardworking man enthusiastic to take on the challenges in Frankfort.

Contrary to the views of candidates from the other side of the aisle who want to abolish the office of State Treasurer altogether, Daniel sees this office filled with opportunity to bring greater accountability, transparency, and modernization to our Commonwealth.

He has a concrete vision to combine the Department of Revenue with the Office of the State Treasurer to help consolidate and streamline tax collection. He plans to enhance the financial security of the Commonwealth by implementing fraud detection software used by banks and credit card companies to monitor the innumerable amount of checks written within state government. As state treasurer, Daniel will bring a high standard of accountability and transparency to this office by expanding good government ideas so that current state account balances and recent transactions will be public access for all citizens at just the click of a button.

I know Daniel Grossberg to be a genuinely good man and he will be a great public servant. We share the same optimism that the future of Kentucky is bright and will be decided by young people from across the Commonwealth. I urge all Democrats to get to the polls on May 19 and cast your vote to support Daniel Grossberg for Kentucky State Treasurer.
