Obituary: James W. Mattingly, 93, Lebanon
James W. Mattingly, 93, of Lebanon, died peacefully, Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon, surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 30, 1922, in Washington County to the late Walter and Emmma Badgett Mattingly. He was a farmer, a retired school bus driver and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Mattingly; two sons, James Mattingly II and infant Michael Mattingly; one infant daughter, Janice Mattingly; three grandsons, Scottie Richardson, P.J. Richardson and James Mattingly III; one sister, Anna Mary Bowman; two brothers, Adrian and Thomas Mattingly.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary Lou Dawson (James) of Louisville, Darlene Stumph (Clifford), Margaret Ann Mattingly and Brenda Napper (Kelly) all of Lebanon, and Vicky Collette (Johnny) of Corbin; one son, Larry Mattingly of Lebanon; one sister, Rose Thompson of Louisville; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a special friend Patricia Mills of Lebanon.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2015, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 675 Highway 327, Lebanon, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. James W. Graf will officiate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Pallbearers are grandsons, David Dawson, Brent Masterson, Michael Masterson, Troy Mattingly, Steven Stumph, Timmy Stumph, Jason Mattingly and Brian Mattingly.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
