Fire marshal called to investigate fire at Nelson County High School

Tuesday, April 14, 2015, 1:30 p.m. — The state fire marshal’s office is investigating a fire that happened Tuesday morning in the boys’ restroom in the freshman wing of Nelson County High School.

firemarshall_logoThe Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched at 11:49 a.m. for the fire at NCHS, 1070 Bloomfield Road. By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had been extinguished by a teacher, and students and staff had been evacuated to another part of the building.

Most of the damage was contained to the restroom, though the entire wing of the building also suffered minor smoke damage.

The fire marshal’s office was requested due to the nature of the fire and the number of people placed at risk. No one was injured in the incident.

Firefighters and police were on scene until personnel from the fire marshal’s office arrived at about 2 p.m.
