City firefighters tackle early morning structure fire on South Fifth Street

Wednesday, April 15, 2015, 3:28 a.m. — A home on South Fifth Street that served as the offices for fireshieldLighthouse Counseling Center was damaged by fire early Wednesday morning. The Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to a fire reported at 105 South Fifth Street at about 1:15 a.m. Bardstown Police were first on the scene and reported flames were through the roof of the building. Police said the fire threatened the antique mall (the former location of Shelton’s Furniture) located directly behind the home.

Firefighters reported they had control of the fire at about 1:55 a.m. Fire crews remained on the scene until 4:13 a.m. No one was injured in the fire.
