Willisburg man arrested early Thursday morning on DUI charges

Thursday, April 16, 2015, 2:30 a.m. — A Willisburg man was arrested early Thursday morning after a passerby at Wal-Mart reported that the man driving a vehicle appeared to be intoxicated.

bardstownpolicepatchAt 1:37 a.m., Nelson County Dispatch requested officers to watch for the vehicle, described by the witness as a black Chevrolet Trailblazer, after it left the Wal-Mart parking lot heading north on East John Rowan Blvd. The witness also noted the vehicle’s license plate.

Bardstown Police officer spotted the vehicle at West John Rowan and Nutter Drive. Prior to stopping the vehicle, dispatchers reported that the vehicle was earlier reported as stolen in Washington County.

Police stopped the vehicle in front of Thomas Nelson High School. The driver was arrested and lodged in the Nelson County Jail on alcohol-related and other charges. After making contact with police in Washington County, officers determined the vehicle was not stolen, but was being used without the authorization. The vehicle was registered to an area automotive dealer.
