Nelson Circuit Court Indictments – April 15, 2015

Thursday, April 16, 2015 – The following people were indicted by a Nelson County grand jury on Wednesday, April 15, 2015. They are scheduled for arraignment Thursday, May 7, 2015, unless otherwise indicated.

15-CR-082. Jeffrey M. Johnson, 52, Cox’s Creek, possession of controlled substance, first-degree (methamphetamine); possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the indictment, on March 31, 2015, Johnson allegedly possessed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-084. Dustin Shawn Downs, 27, Bardstown, receiving stolen property (firearm); cruelty to animals, second-degree (3 counts).

According to the indictment, on Dec. 31, 2014, Downs allegedly received, retained or disposed of a stolen, defaced Thompson .50 caliber rifle. The indictment further alleges that on the same day, Downs had several dogs living outside without water or food and living in their own feces. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-085. Melissa D. Hall, 47, Taylorsville, trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree (2 or more grams of methamphetamine); possession of a controlled substance, first-degree (methamphetamine); possession of drug paraphernalia; persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, on March 31, 2015, Hall allegedly possessed drug paraphernalia and two or more grams of methamphetamine with the intent to sell or transfer it. The indictment cites Hall’s prior felony convictions as basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-086. Yvonne I. Mitchell, 44, Bardstown, trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree (10 or more drug units drug opiates); possession of a handgun by a convicted felony; wanton endangerment, first-degree; unlawful transaction with a minor.

According to the indictment, on March 24, 2015, Mitchell allegedly possessed 10 or more drug units of oxycodone with the intent to sell or transfer it while in possession of a 9mm FEB Hungary pistol. The indictment further alleges Mitchell endangered juvenile by giving the juvenile a pill identified as oxycodone. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-087. Charles R. Newton, 50, New Haven, trafficking in controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school and complicity to the same; trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 ounces) and complicity to the same; possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity to the same; possession of marijuana and complicity to the same.

According to the indictment, on Jan. 26, 2015, Newton — acting alone or in concert with Lisa M. Harris — allegedly possessed drug paraphernalia, and less than 8 ounces of marijuana within 1,000 feet of St. Catherine School in New Haven with the intent to sell or transfer it. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-088. Dorothea Rochelle Traynor, 31, Bardstown, trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree (more than 10 drug units of an unspecified drug); possession of drug paraphernalia; endangering the welfare of a minor.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 6, 2014, Traynor allegedly sold more than 10 drug units of hydrocodone to a confidential informant while possessing drug paraphernalia. The indictment further alleges Traynor failed to exercise reasonable diligence to prevent a child from becoming neglected. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-089. Lisa M. Harris, 46, New Haven, trafficking in controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school and complicity to the same; trafficking in marijuana and complicity to the same; possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity to the same; possession of marijuana and complicity to the same.

According to the indictment, on Jan. 26, 2015, Harris — acting alone or in concert with Charles R. Newton — allegedly possessed drug paraphernalia, and less than 8 ounces of marijuana within 1,000 feet of St. Catherine School in New Haven with the intent to sell or transfer it. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-090. Joshua Robert Hall, 31, Bardstown, trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree (less than 2 grams heroin) and complicity to the same; possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity to the same.

According to the indictment, on July 18, 2014, Hall allegedly sold less than 2 grams of heroin to a confidential informant while in possession of drug paraphernalia. The indictment further alleges than on July 22, 2014, Hall — acting alone or in concert with Dorothea Rochelle Traynor — allegedly sold less than two grams of heroin to a confidential informant while also in possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-091. Shawn C. Ball, 28, Cox’s Creek, trafficking in controlled substances, first-degree (10 or more drug units of an unspecified drug); possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the indictment, on Aug. 11, 2014, Ball allegedly sold 10 or more drug units of oxycodone to a confidential informant while in possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-092. Dorothea Rochelle Traynor, 31, Bardstown, trafficking in controlled substance, first-degree (less than 2 grams heroin) and complicity to the same; possession of drug paraphernalia and complicity to the same.

According to the indictment, on July 22, 2014, Traynor — acting alone or in concert with Joshua Robert hall — allegedly sold less than 2 grams of heroin to a confidential informant while in possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-093. Letitia M. Leaper, 24, Bardstown, trafficking in controlled substances, second-degree (less than 20 drug units of an unspecified Schedule III drug); possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the indictment, on Aug. 27, 2014, Leaper allegedly sold fewer than 20 drug units of hydrocodone to a confidential informant while in possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only.

15-CR-094. Pamela D. Rooks, 61, Bardstown, unlawful access to a computer, first-degree; theft of identity of another without consent; possession of a forged instrument, second-degree (3 counts).

According to the indictment, between April 2010 and December 2014, Rooks allegedly used another person’s credit card without permission, stole the person’s identity to file for credit cards in the person’s name, and accessed the person’s line of credit and transferring money knowing the checks were forged. Bail was set at $9,500 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-095. Aimee Lynne Benson, 42, Crestwood, theft by failure to make required disposition of property, $500 or more; persistent felony offender, second-degree.

According to the indictment, between Aug. 12, 2013, and April 6, 2015, Benson allegedly sold a 2003 Lincoln LS for cash knowing it had a loan and lien having a value of $500 or more but less than $10,000. The indictment cites Benson’s prior felony conviction as basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-096. Debra F. Hope, 32, Elmo, Ill., flagrant non-support.

According to the indictment, from November 2014 through April 2015, Hope allegedly failed to provide support she was ordered to pay, resulting in an arrearage of $2,387.04. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-097. Brandon S. Parrott, 17, Bardstown, manufacturing methamphetamine; possession of precursors with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine; wanton endangerment, first-degree (4 counts); possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the indictment, on Dec. 31, 2014, Parrot allegedly manufactured methamphetamine and possessed drug paraphernalia and precursors for the manufacture of methamphetamine. The indictment further alleges Parrot created substantial danger to another person when he had an active methamphetamine lab present in a vehicle with two adults, a juvenile, and one of the adults’ unborn child. Bail was set at $50,000 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-098. Trevor D. Johnson, 37, Bardstown, sodomy, first-degree (victim incapable of consent – physically helpless).

According to the indictment, between March 11-12, 2015, Johnson allegedly engaged in deviant sexual intercourse with another person who was physically helpless and incapable of consent. Bail was set at $25,000 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-099. Charles Dale Harris, 25, New Haven, possession of marijuana; tampering with physical evidence; possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the indictment, on Jan. 26, 2015, Harris allegedly possessed marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and when he believe an official proceeding was pending, he tore up rolling paper and filter and attempted to dispose of them in a toilet. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.

15-CR-100. Carl L. Gabehart, 32, no address available, theft by deception, $500 or more; failure to notify address change to Department of Transportation, persistent felony offender, first-degree.

According to the indictment, on Nov. 17, 2014, Gabehart allegedly passed a check in the amount of $800 at Your Community Bank knowing the account was closed. The indictment further alleges he failed to notify the Department of Transportation of his address change. The indictment cites his earlier felony convictions as basis for the persistent felony offender charge. Bail was set at $5,000 cash only, plus conditions.
