Obituary: Louise Thompson Hood, 88, Mount Zion

Louise Thompson Hood, 88, of the Mount Zion community of Washington County, died at 1 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, at her home. She was a native of Washington County and was born on Louise-Hood-001June 3, 1926 to the late Amos and Auda Coulter Thompson. She was a member of the Willisburg Church Of God and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Lee Hood (Feb. 5, 2000); one sister, Evelyn Cheser (Sept. 18, 2008); and two brothers, Wilmo Thompson (March 16, 1985) and Elmo Thompson (Feb. 21, 2011).

Survivors include six daughters, Marilyn Noel (Ronnie) and Debbie Hood (Mike), both of Willisburg, Wanda Hahn (Jimmy) and Teresa Stevens (Todd), both of Bloomfield, Brenda Bird (Hershell) of Cox’s Creek and Carla Riggs (Al) of Lawrenceburg; three sons, Naymon Hood (Jewell) of Springfield, Wendell Hood (Dorothy) of Willisburg and Larry Hood (Helen) of Chaplin; five sisters, Juanita Thompson and Marie Lewis (Charles), both of Springfield, Blondella Lewis of Bloomfield, Faye Watts of Cold Spring and Betty Cheatham (Bobby) of Mount Washington; two brothers, Glen Thompson of Willisburg and Billy Thompson (Myrna) of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015, at the Willisburg Church Of God with the Rev. Mark Speakman, the church pastor, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Jerome McCullahy. Burial is in the Brush Grove Cemetery in Willisburg.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Karen Trent, Jennifer Coulter, Regina Williams, Alisia Kinser and Britney Barlow. Casket bearers are grandsons, Greg Hahn, Brian Hood, Kalan Hood, Michael Hood, Jonathan Hood, Eric Noel, Aaron Noel, Cole Stevens and Jacob Turner.

The Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
