Watts introduced Lewis, who received a standing ovation from those in attendance.
“Deputy Sheriff A.J. Lewis put his life on the line to save another person,” Watts said, presenting Lewis with a proclamation setting aside April 21 as “Deputy A.J. Lewis Day” in Nelson County.
Watts said he felt the county was fortunate to have someone like Lewis working here in our community.
The event was attended by several members of the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, the Bardstown Police department and Lewis’ family members.
