DARELL VINCENT CECIL

Darell Vincent Cecil, 89, of Balltown, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at his home. He was a Catholic by faith and attended St. Thomas Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lytle and Elisabeth Mae “Bessie” Rogers Cecil; his first wife, Mary Imogene Bryan Cecil; and his second wife, Mary Huberta “Birdie” Donahue Cecil; two infant children, Mary Theresa Cecil and James Bryan Cecil; three brothers, Marvin Cecil, Bertrand Cecil, and Emil Cecil; and one granddaughter, Brittany Cecil.

Survivors include four daughters, Betty Cecil of Bardstown, Jean Cecil of Louisville, Donna Shofner (Scott) of Melody Lake and Sharon Cecil of Balltown; seven sons, Vincent Cecil (Diania), Roger Cecil (Tish), Johnny Cecil (Nancy), Ricky Cecil, Tony Cecil and Brian Cecil, all of Balltown and Gary Cecil (Mica) of Seymour, Ind.;
one sister, Rosaline Roby of Bardstown; one brother, Edwin Cecil (Frances) of Bardstown; three stepsons, Joe Cecil of New Hope, David Cecil (Nancy) of Lexington and Eric Cecil of Melody Lake; 29 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2015, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeff Hopper as celebrant. Burial is in the St. Thomas Cemetery.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2015, and 8-10:30 a.m. Monday at the Joseph L Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven with a prayer service 6 p.m. Sunday.
