Obituary: Lula Elizabeth Gant, 90, Nazareth
Lula Elizabeth Gant, 90, of Nazareth, died Saturday, April 25, 2015, at Colonial Health and Rehab in Bardstown. She was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Balltown to the late Joseph Alton and Geneva Beatrice Phillips Miles. She was a former employee of Old Stag Distillery in Bardstown and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 121 Ladies Auxiliary, a volunteer for the Flaget Hospital Auxiliary. She was a former member of the St. Joseph Bereavement Committee and served as a Eucharist Minister at St. Joseph.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Gant; and one sister, Juanita Garrett.
She is survived by one daughter, Deborah Rogers of Bardstown; one son, Denny (Stacey) Gant of Cox’s Creek; four grandchildren, Anne Nicole Rogers, David Samuel Rogers, James Steven Gant, and Elizabeth Ann Gant; and four great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto Cathedral with the Rev. Bill Hammer as celebrant. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer service Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
