Burglar becomes victim when caught by bat-wielding homeowner
Friday, April 29, 2011, 10:42 p.m. — A man in his 20’s who allegedly tried to burglarize a home on Plum Run Road Friday night got more than he bargained for when the man was confronted by the homeowner armed with a baseball bat.
Deputies with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office were called about 9:50 p.m. to a home in the 300 block of Plum Run Road for a possible burglary in progress. The caller told dispatchers her husband had subdued the alleged burglar. Officers quickly arrived at the home and put out a call to send a squad from Nelson County EMS on behalf of the burglar.
EMS transported the alleged burglar to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries from being hit with a baseball bat, including multiple lacerations on his head and body and possible broken bones. At press time police are still investigating the incident.
