Firefighters respond to investigate smoke in Ben Irvin Road area

Saturday, May 23, 2015, 10 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department was called to the area of Ben Irvin fireshieldRoad by the rear of Sympson Lake for a report of the smell of an electrical-type of of fire with smoke in the area. The smoke and odor were reported by the lake patrol officer, and firefighters were dispatched at 9:13 p.m. Firefighters investigated and determined the source was a controlled burn in the area that included some materials that aren’t allowed to be burned. Firefighters talked to the property owner and cleared the scene at 9:30 p.m.
