Update: Home burglar caught in at by bat-wielding homeowner

Monday, May 2, 2011, 4:45 p.m. — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office has provided additional details surrounding a burglary suspect who was caught in the act by a homeowner.
According to a sheriff’ office press release, on Friday, March 29 at about 9:50 p.m., deputies were sent to the home of Dennis Borders, 386 Plum Run Road for a reported burglary in progress. When officers arrived, they found that Borders had the suspect, identified at Joseph I. Hardin of Bardstown, detained in the home’s basement.
Hardin was taken by Nelson County EMS to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries which he sustained from a baseball bat.
Deputy Reece Riley investigated the incident.
