EARL MERRITT “FOOTS” BEAM

Earl Merritt “Foots” Beam, 92, of Botland, died Friday, May 29, 2015, at the Loretto Motherhouse. He was born Feb. 10, 1923, in the Poplar Flat area of Nelson County to Chester Allen and Katherine Brown Montgomery Beam. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, and a retired farmer and warehouseman at Heaven Hill Distillery.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Melvin Beam.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Alice Beam; one daughter, Catherine (Larry) Means of Shepherdsville; four sons, James W. (Ursula) Beam, William Earl (Darlene) Beam, Charles B. (Yvonne) Beam, and Joseph Stephen (Canda) Beam, all of Bardstown; nine grandchildren, James W. Beam Jr., Kimberly M. Beam, Melissa Biehn, Ruth Greenwell, Elizabeth Mattingly, Alan Beam, Brian Beam, Leah Zettwoch, and Eric Beam; and 12 great-grandchildren, Katelynn Ann Beam, Ben Ruhlin, Christian Beam, Kelsey Mattingly, Oscar Zettwoch, Walter Zettwoch, Brielle Biehn, Ella Ruth Mattingly, Jonas Beam, Samuel Greenwell, Gavin Beam, and Millie Jean Beam.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2015, at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mill Creek Baptist Church Pastor Gary Chesser will officiate.

Visitation is 1-6 p.m Sunday, May 31, 2015, at the funeral home.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Mill Creek Baptist Church building fund.

The Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
