Obituary: Shirley Jean Brown, 74, Bardstown

Shirley Jean Brown, 74, of Bardstown, died Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was born Nov. 24, 1940, in Nelson County to the late Raymond and Sallie Mae Tingle Carey. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Claudia Curtsinger; and three brothers, James Carey, Frank Carey and Woody Carey.

She is survived by her husband, Willard Brown; one daughter, Vicky Grubbs (Dennis) of Bardstown; three sons, Stuart Brown (Sandra) of Bardstown, Timmy Brown (Rhonda) of Bloomfield, and Eric Brown (Sherry) of Mount Washington; eight grandchildren, Casey Settles, a grandson who they raised, Lydia Wensil, Renea Walker, Dylan Brown, Matthew Fields, Tricia Hedeguard, John Grubbs, and Megan Borders; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen by the family. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
