Bevin, running mate in town Wednesday for radio show, meet & greet

Tuesday, June 9, 2015, 10:30 a.m. — The campaign of Republican gubernatorial nominee Matt Bevin confirmed Tuesday that he and running mate Jenean Hampton will be making several stops in Bardstown Wednesday.

Bevin and Hampton’s first stop is WBRT Radio for a live studio appearance on “Bradford & Brooks,” 11 to noon, broadcast live on 1320 AM, 97.1 FM and streaming live, NelsonCountyGazette.com. Video of the show will also broadcast live on BRTV, Bardstown Cable channel 19, and will be rebroadcast that evening on the same channel.

After the radio show, Bevin and Hampton will then visit Handy Food Mart, 3945 New Shepherdsville Road, for lunch and to meet voters in the area.

Following that stop, Bevin and Hampton will return to downtown Bardstown for a stop at the Bardstown Farmer’s Market on East Flaget Avenue.

Both events are open to the public.

Other media reports had the pair’s couple published incorrectly, but Bevin’s campaign confirmed his first visit at with WBRT’s “Bradford & Brooks” hosts Margie Bradford and Jim Brooks.

In the May Republican primary, Bevin handily carried Nelson County with 44 percent of the vote, with challengers Hal Heiner and Ag Commissioner Jamie Cover each getting 25 percent. Of the county’s 24 precincts, two precincts reported ties between Bevin and Comer; while Heiner won two precincts and Comer won a single precinct.

Bevin and Hampton face Democratic nominee Attorney General Jack Conway and his running mate Sannie Overly in the November general election.
