Obituary: William Roger ‘Key’ Thompson, 90, St. Mary’s

William Roger “Key” Thompson, 90, of St. Mary’s, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at his residence. He was born on August 31, 1924, in Springfield. He was a retired farmer and member of St. Charles Catholic Church.

funeral_flowerHe was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Cecilia Smith Thompson; his parents, Andy Lee and Hattie Mary Wright Thompson; three daughters, Mary Ann Thompson, Martha Ann Thompson and Theresa F. Thompson; two sons, William Roger “June Bug” Thompson Jr. and Samuel Davis Thompson; four sisters, Grace Warner, Ruth Warner, Margaret Linton and Mary Thompson; and three brothers, Samuel Thompson, Andy Thompson, and George Thompson.

Survivors include four daughters, Hattie Yocum and Magdalen Burton, both of Lebanon, Hazel Stateman of Eminence, and Linda Coleman of Springfield; two sons, Joe Ben Thompson and George Thompson, both of Lebanon; one sister, Hazel Thompson of Lebanon; and 18 grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015, at St. Charles Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Graf officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2015, at the Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon with prayer services at 7 p.m. by Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

The Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon is in charge of the arrangements.
