RONNIE NEWTON

Ronnie Newton, 66, of Bardstown, died Friday, June 19, 2015, at Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville. He was born Jan. 5, 1949, in Louisville. He worked for Owens Illinois/Fuji Seal and retired in 2005. He was a Specialist Fourth Class C Battery 2nd Battalion 138th Artillery Unit out of Nelson County for the Army National Guard from 1967 – 1973, and was a Purple Heart recipient while serving our country in Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward and Elsie Marie Newton.

He is survived by one daughter, Brandie (John) Morrison; one sister, Luzette Moran; one brother, Jamie Newton; two grandchildren, Halli Morrison and Tyler Morrison, both of Bardstown; two nieces, Brooke Newton and Katrina (Pat) Ballard, both of Bardstown;, and one nephew, David Edward Moran of Bardstown.

A celebration of his life service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Barlow Funeral Home, with full military rights at Lebanon National Cemetery. Family and friends will provide officiating and Joe Masterson, American Legion Post 121 will provide graveside service.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to VA In-Patient Hospice Unit, Race2Recovery, and Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
