Police responding to church burglar alarm find youth fleeing building

Tuesday, June 23, 2015, 1:30 a.m. — Bardstown Police responding to an active burglar alarm at the police_badgeBardstown Baptist Church Monday night were greeted by a group of eight to 10 juveniles who fled the building through a side door and scattered in different directions. At 8:31 p.m., police were dispatched to the church at 101 West Brashear for an activated alarm. The first officer on scene told other responding officers he witnessed a group of juveniles run from the building. Officers searched the area and caught with several of the youth, one of whom told police the youth were going in the church to play basketball. After officers investigated, the juveniles were turned over to their parents or guardians. At least one person was cited for criminal trespassing.
