Tuesday, June 23, 2015 UPDATED 5 p.m. — A police pursuit that began in Bullitt County ended Tuesday afternoon in a Nelson County hay field with the arrest of two Bullitt County men and the discovery of drugs and meth lab materials in their stolen car.
William K. Casey, 28, and Alex M. Allen, 27, both of Shepherdsville, were arrested and face charges that include fleeing and evading police, possession of controlled substances, wanton endangerment,
manufacturing methamphetamine and trafficking controlled substances. In addition, Casey was wanted on warrants out of Bullitt and Shelby counties.
At about 12:50 p.m., Nelson County Dispatch received a report via Kentucky State Police of a pursuit by Bullitt County police of a stolen white 2003 Pontiac Grand Am. The pursuit was on KY 245 in Bullitt County heading toward the Nelson County line. Deputies with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Bardstown Police and a Kentucky State Police trooper responded to intercept the car as it crossed into the county.
Before the car could get to the county line, it turned off KY 245 in Bullitt County on to Lotus Warehouse Road, and from there it turned on to Deatsville Road. The pursuit entered Nelson County on Deatsville Road and continued east. In the 4300 block of Deatsville Road, the Pontiac left the roadway and entered a hay field with officers in pursuit. The Pontiac crashed through a gate before the pursuit ended in a creek at about 1:08 p.m.
Police took the two men in the car into custody and discovered what was believed to be an active meth lab in their vehicle. The lab was not an active one, but was a collection of materials typically used to create a one-step meth lab.
The men were lodged in the Nelson County Jail. Deputy Jerry Hardin was in charge of the investigation.
