Obituary: Alice Geneva Thomas, 87, formerly of New Haven
Alice Geneva Thomas, 87, formerly of New Haven, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Eastern Star Home in Louisville following a lengthy illness.
Her sisters wish to express sincere gratitude to the following: Dr. Robert Todd, Nurses Ruby, Nancy, Tasha and all staff at Eastern Star Home where Geneva resided the past three years; Craig, Bill, Linda Goss, nurses at Baptist Hospital East; Sister Catherine and volunteers at St. Brigid Catholic Church; Gerard Mattingly (nephew) of Louisville for his frequent visits and support; Laura & Nursing Staff at Hosparus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Felix Thomas of New Haven; her parents, James Raymond and Luetta Nalley Riggs of Loretto; and six siblings, Mildred Wimsatt, Effie Mattingly, Myrt Wise, Colbert, Harlan and Charles Riggs.
Survivors include two sisters, Barbara Hagan (Leroy) of Louisville and Linda Hagan of Jeffersonville; and 24 nieces and nephews.
Per her request, viewing by family and close friends is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with burial in the St. Thomas Cemetery in Bardstown with Deacon Sam Filiatreau officiating.
Per her request, expressions of sympathy are to be made in the form of prayers for the suffering.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
