Friday, June 26, 2015, 3 a.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department, Nelson County EMS and Bardstown Police responded to a report of a lightning strike and possible structure fire in the area of the old Bardstown Mills complex at 204 West Muir.
At 2:13 a.m. Friday morning, a caller told Nelson County Dispatch there were possibly flames coming from part of the complex. Firefighters arrived and searched the complex for a possible fire and found none. They also checked the area for evidence of a lightning strike on another building. No fires were observed.
Volunteer firefighters reported that the extremely heavy rains that were passing through the county at the time had flooded North Third Street in front of Zaxby’s, as well as an area near the railroad tracks on North Third, and the intersection of North Fifth Street and West Broadway.
Policed responded to several alarm calls related to the weather, and removed several tree limbs from area roadways after the storms had passed.
