Obituary: Gordon L. Sweat, 82, Lebanon Junction

Gordon L. Sweat, 82, of Lebanon Junction, died peacefully, June 27, 2015, at Meadowview Health and Rehab. He was a lifelong resident of Lebanon Junction. He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired mechanist for the L&N -CSX Railroad. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Lebanon Junction.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Lula Belle Sweat; and one grandson, Matthew Willis.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Meadowview Health and Rehab for the loving care he received. A special thank you to Dr. Jane Cornett for taking this walk with us.

Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Willis (Steve); two sons, Pat Sweat (Bonnie) and Steve Sweat (Susan); two sisters, Shirley Hourigan and Jane Walker; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The funeral is noon Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction with burial in the Lebanon Junction City Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015, and 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at the funeral home.

The Kappel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
