Obituary: Thelma Iona Shelburne, 73, Chaplin

THELMA IONA SHELBURNE

Thelma Iona Shelburne, 73, of Chaplin, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at her home. She was the former Thelma Simpson. She was born Dec. 9, 1941, in Shelby County to the late Hobert and Frances Murphy Simpson. She was a homemaker and a member of the former Chaplin Fork Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Shelburne, and one sister, Frances Sweatt.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Michael) Downs of Bardstown and Cindy (Doug) Mitchell of Chaplin; one sister, Darlene Harlow of Bardstown; eight grandchildren, Jody (Christa) Mitchell, Matt Mitchell, Rebekah Mitchell, Hope Shelburne, Faith Shryock, Charity Shryock, Micha Downs, Hazel Downs; and one great-grandson, Hayden Naylor.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2015, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Bill Johnson officiating. Burial is in the Highview Cemetery at Chaplin.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
