Obituary: Helen Frances Ray Carter, 84, New Haven

Helen Frances Ray Carter, 84, of New Haven, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at her home in New Haven. She was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven and the church funeral_floweraltar society. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Haven Senior Citizens. She was born July 27, 1930 to the late Jason “Jake” and Fannie Masterson Ray.

She was preceded in death also by her husband of 52 years, Marshall Elbert Carter; one son, Joseph Daniel “Danny” Carter; two sisters, Lucille Carter and Margaret Clan; and two brothers, Martin “Babe” Ray and Joseph Raymond “J.R.” Ray.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary (Jerry) Noe of Nelsonville and Fannie (Steve) Nix of Boston; two sons, James Marcus “Mark” Carter and Francis Allen “Crow” Carter, both of New Haven; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2015, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Chris LuBecke officiating. Burial is in the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Cemetery in New Hope.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2015 and 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday at the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 North Main St., New Haven. A prayer service is 5 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the William R. Rust Funeral Home.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
