Obituary: James Thurman Owens, 75, Lebanon Junction

James Thurman Owens, 75, of Lebanon Junction, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was an employee of General Electric for 35 years as a maintenance mechanic. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Frank and Mary Elizabeth “Bessie” Smith Owens.

Survivors include two daughters, Dietra J. Hammon and Theresa C. Owens; one son, Derryl G. Owens; three sisters, Marian A. Hickman, Doris J. Owens and Loretta O. Tinsley; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Lebanon Junction. Burial is in the St. Catherine Cemetery in New Haven.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015, and after 9 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction is in charge of the arrangements.
