Obituary: Doris Ann Holt Lewis, 69, Chaplin

Doris Ann Holt Lewis, 69, of Chaplin, died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the Life Care Center in Bardstown. She was a native of Nelson County and was born Nov. 19, 1945, to the late Fred W. and funeral_candleMargie Frances Hahn Holt.

She was a member of the Chaplin Baptist Church, a 1964 graduate of Bloomfield High School, a graduate of St. Catharine College and a graduate of Campbellsville College. She was a retired employee of the Nelson County Board of Education where she served as the Family Resource Director.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Glenna Jolly; and two brothers, Bobby Gene Holt and Carroll Holt.

Survivors include her husband, James E. “Buddy” Lewis; one daughter, Amy Mumford (Larry) of Chaplin; one son, Wesley Lewis (Angie) of Chaplin; three sisters, Frances Warner (Roy) of Louisville, Nancy Chesser (Lee) of Chaplin and Rita Rice (Gary) of Versailles; three brothers, William Milton “Tuddie” Holt (Lois) and Paul Wayne Holt (Joyce), both of Chaplin and Rudolph Holt (Joyce) of Independence; four grandchildren, Devon Lile (Brandon), Wade Mumford, Kelsey Lewis and Gavan Lewis; one great-grandchild, Hope Lile.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the the Chaplin Baptist Church with the Rev. Matthew Jones officiating, assisted by the Rev. Everett Hood. Burial is in the High View Cemetery in Chaplin.

Honorary pallbearers are Vickie Warner, Shelia Calvert, Patti McClean, Sue Holt, Cindy Grogan, Sandy Wimpsett, Wendy Meador, Karen Glasscock, Jennifer Yates, Leah Tipton, Joy Newberry and Frances Hall.

Casket bearers will be Mike Holt, Billy Warner, Jay Holt, Alex Holt, Scott Holt, Chris Holt, Eric Swinford, William Rice, Dewayne Jolly and Kyle Jolly.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Chaplin Baptist Church.

The Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
