Guidelines for obituaries:

• Include the submitter’s name, email, phone number, and relationship to the deceased so we can verify the submission.
• Provide the deceased’s full name, date of birth, date of death, age, and city or town of residence.
• You may include up to two portrait photos (optional), each no larger than 5MB. Please make sure you have the right to share any photo you submit.
• Include service details if available: funeral home, visitation, funeral service, and burial or interment location.

Opinion Pieces

Have something to say about an issue affecting Nelson County? We welcome letters and opinion pieces on local matters, current events, and community concerns.

Guidelines for opinion pieces:

• All submissions must be signed. We publish the author’s name; we do not accept anonymous or pen-name submissions.
• For verification, include a phone number and email address where we can reach you. Your contact information is used only to confirm authorship and will not be published.
• An accompanying image is optional. If you include one, please make sure you own it or have permission to use it.
• Cite your sources. If you reference facts, figures, or claims, tell us where they came from.
• No hate speech, personal attacks, defamation, or other unlawful content will be published.
• The Gazette reserves the right to edit submissions for length, clarity, grammar, and style.
• Submission does not guarantee publication. We review every piece but cannot publish all of them.
