Man escapes injury after boat capsizes Monday on Sympson Lake

Monday, July 13, 2015 — A man escaped serious injury Monday morning at Sympson Lake after the boat he was in capsized and sank. The Bardstown Fire Department and Nelson County EMS were dispatched at 10 a.m. for the report of two men in a sinking boat near the dam on Boston Road. The victim was rescued from his sinking boat by other boaters. Firefighters helped get the man to shore and bring the boat to the Ben Irvin Road boat ramp. The victim did not require treatment from Nelson County EMS. Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.
