Obituary: Charlene Jacobs, SCN, 72, Nazareth
Charlene Jacobs, SCN, 72, of Nazareth, died Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Carrico Hall at Nazareth. She was baptised Mary Marlene Jacobs and was a native of Lexington. She was a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 53 years.
She served in elementary education as both teacher and principal in Kentucky for 43 years. In Louisville, she served at St. Martha School from 1966–69 and at St. Agnes School from 1969–79. She served as principal at St. Benedict School in Lebanon Junction from 1979-86. She was a teacher at St. Joseph School in Bardstown from 1986–2009. On the Nazareth Campus, she served in community service in the Archives, the Pastoral Administrator’s Office and Heritage Hall from 2009–12. For the next two years, she served as one of the coordinators at the Motherhouse. She retired due to illness in 2014 and served in the Apostolate of Prayer.
Survivors include a twin sister, Charlene Jacobs Gandolfo of Lexington; several nieces and nephews; and her religious community.
The funeral liturgy is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at St. Vincent Church in Nazareth.
