Bardstown Baptist Church to dedicate marker honoring 200th anniversary

Monday, July 27, 2015, 3 p.m. — The Bardstown Baptist Church will celebrate its 200th anniversary with a historic marker dedication at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2015.
The event is sponsored by Cox’s Station Chapter, NSDAR. Included in the celebration will be the ringing of church bell, unveiling of bronze marker, 21 gun black powder salute by Gov. Isaac Shelby, NSSAR, bagpiper, “Taps” and greeting brought by President General Lynn Forney Young.
The church was constituted Sept. 30, 1815, and was formerly known as Salem Baptist Church. The congregation organized with 11 charter members. In 1848 the congregation became known as Bardstown Baptist Church and moved to its present location in 1893.
