EDDIE RAY ‘SLIM’ SHECKLES

Eddie Ray “Slim” Sheckles, 79, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015, in Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born Aug. 19, 1935, in Fairfield to Skeel and Lizzie Hurst Sheckles. He was a retired employee of the Kentucky Department of Transportation, and a former employee of Mago Construction and Willett Distillery. He attended St. John A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Bard Sheckles; two daughters, Carrie Pride and Margie Sheckles, both of Bardstown; one brother, Carl (Betty) Sheckles of Bardstown; three grandchildren, Demetra Sheckles, Porscha Pride and Joshua Pride; six great-grandchildren, Caleb and Samuel Sheckles, Xavier Thompson, Daegan Sims, Amiyah and Kaydence Littlejohn; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Roscoe Linton officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is noon-3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
