Overturned semi closes Nelsonville Road Friday afternoon

Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, 1 p.m. — Nelsonville Road will be blocked Friday afternoon while an overturned semi tractor-trailer is unloaded and hoisted back onto its wheels.
The accident happened at 9:15 a.m. in the area of 5980 Nelsonville Road. The accident was initially reported as an injury accident, and Nelson County EMS, the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and firefighters were dispatched to the scene. The 47-year-old Canadian truck driver suffered very minor injuries and was not treated by EMS.
The open-type truck trailer was loaded with approximately 40,000 lbs of cargo, which was to be unloaded by hand onto another truck Friday afternoon and required closing the road. Once unloaded, the truck will be uprighted. The state highway department was asked to place signs to alert drivers to the road closure.
