GLADYS COULTER

Gladys Coulter, 91, of Chaplin, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at her home. She was the former Gladys Smith, born March 3, 1924, in Washington County to the late Everett and Ethel Grigsby Smith. She was a former employee of the Powder Plant in Charlestown. She was a homemaker and a member of the Chaplin Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Coulter; four sisters, Veneta Burns, Lottie McComb, Sandra Scott, and Vicki Smith; and three brothers, Glenn Smith, Hedger Smith and Calvin Smith.

She is survived by three daughters, Janet Burns of Bloomfield, Joyce (Paul) Holt of Chaplin and Jennifer (Tim) Vittitow of Boston; three sisters, Olena (Wayne) Brickner of Somerset, Alma Brown of Charlestown, Ind. and Becky (Bob) Bennett of Harrodsburg; five brothers, Eugene (Betty) Smith of Campbellsville, Nathaniel (Betty) Smith of Sellersburg, Ind., Marnie (Jeannie) Smith of Cox’s Creek, Kenny Smith of Henryville, Ind., and Finace (Cindy) Smith of Georgetown, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at the Chaplin Baptist Church with Bro. Alan Witham and Bro. Mark Glasscock officiating. Burial is in the Highview Cemetery in Chaplin.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at the Chaplin Baptist Church.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
