Obituary: Jimmy Edward ‘Jim’ Cox, 73, Lawrenceburg
Jimmy Edward “Jim” Cox, 73, of Lawrenceburg, formerly of Ashland City, Tenn., died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at his home. He was born Aug. 6, 1942, Brodhead. He was a former vice president of Brandeis Machinery and Supply in Louisville where he worked for 25 years. He was also an endowment member of the National Rifle Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ard and Marguerite Lawrence Cox; two infant children, Mary Lucille and Catherine Annette Cox; and one brother, Byron Cox.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 50 years, Catherine L. “Lucy” Mattingly Cox; one brother, Donald Cox (Mary) of Shepherdsville; one sister-in-law, Joyce Cox of Greenwood, Ark.; one niece, Donna Marie Beld; and one nephew, Larry Cox.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, St. Francis, with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. Peter Chaou and Emil Kander will concelebrate with Deacon Dominick Azarra assisting.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, and 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with recitation of the Rosary Saturday at 7 p.m. and a a Celebration of Life service Sunday at 6 p.m.
Pallbearers are Cleve Eldridge, Josh Eldridge, Larry Cox, Lee McIntyre, Gary Mattingly and Ricky Mattingly.
Honorary pallbearers are Don Cox, Paul Eldridge, Kenny Mattingly, Wendell Lawrence, Dan Marion and Hancel Abner.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
