Obituary: Richard Albert ‘Buddy’ Mills, 85, Loretto

Richard Albert “Buddy” Mills, 85, of Loretto, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at Village of Lebanon Nursing Home. He was born July 26, 1930, in Loretto. He was a former meat cutter with Kroger in Louisville. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Agnes Mills (2007); his parents, William Benedict and Mary Lee VanCleave Mills; four sisters, Helen Beaven, Roseleen Sims, Mildred Miles and Emma Jean Nicholas; and one brother, William L. Mills.

Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Rahn (Tony) of Loretto; two granddaughters, Allison Thompson of La Vergne, Tenn., and Hannah Miller of Milan, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn Thompson and Gavin Miller; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, St. Francis, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bill Bowling will preside.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
