Radio club meeting to discuss Bourbon Festival, communications drill

Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015 — The Bardstown-based Kentucky Amateur Radio Society (KARS) will hold its next meeting 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14 and Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at the main Nelson County EMS Station 1 on Buchanan karslogolowresBoulevard off Bloomfield Road. All amateur radio operators and anyone interested in learning about amateur radio is encouraged to attend.The topic for these meeting will be a discussion of the lessons learned while operating the Bourbon Festival Special Event station and preparations for the nationwide Simulated Emergency Test (SET) on the 4-5 October weekend.

All amateur radio operators and anyone interested in learning about amateur radio is encouraged to attend. KARS conducts a general interest net on the Bardstown 2m repeater (frequency: 145.470, PL 151.4) each Sunday evening at 9pm local time.  KARS has moved the Weather Training Net to Wednesday evening at 8:30pm local time on the same repeater.  Licensed amateurs are encouraged to call in to both nets.

All ham radio operators and those interested in learning about ham radio is encouraged to attend. There is no longer a requirement for Morse Code in order to obtain a ham radio license. For more information, visit the club’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/kb4ky.
