Obituary: Joseph Edward Lanham, 85, formerly of Bardstown
Joseph Edward Lanham, 85, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Springfield and Bardstown, died at 7:19 p.m., Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at the home of his daughter in Elizabethtown. He was a native of Washington County. He was born May 24, 1930, to the late Richard and Katie Lou Wilkerson Lanham. He was a member of the Parkway Baptist Church, and was a retired farmer, plumber and excavator.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Sallee Lanham (April 3, 2015); one daughter, Mary Lou Lanham; two sisters, Janie Lanham and Betty Armstrong; and three brothers, Charles Lanham, Tom Lanham and Larry Lanham.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Mattingly and Bonnie Hamilton (Gary), both of Springfield, and Kathy Hall (Everett) of Elizabethtown; two sons, Johnny Lanham (Angel) and Joe Lanham, Jr. (Lynn), both of Bardstown; one sister, Helen Lanham Harper of Bardstown; three brothers, Carl Lanham and Leon Lanham, both of Bardstown, and Hollis Lanham of Henryville, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, at Parkway Baptist Church in Bardstown with pastor Dr. James Carroll officiating. Burial is in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Springfield.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield, and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the church.
